Colonial Recipes -- Easy to do at home!
Here are a few colonial recipes with a little modern twist that you can try at home-- and they're very easy too!
Basic Muffins

Ingredients

~2 cups of flour ~1/2 cup of sugar
~2 egg ~1 cup of milk
~1/4 cup of vegetable oil ~1 tablespoon of baking powder
~1/2 teaspoon of salt ~2 eggs
~1 cup of milk ~1/4 cup of vegetable oil
1)Preheat oven to 350° and grease muffin tin.
2)In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt.
3)In another bowl, add oil, milk and eggs. Beat.
4)Mix the 2 bowls together and blend.
5)Spoon into muffin tin 3/4 full.
6)Bake for 20 minutes.
*For extra taste, mix in a type of berry, fruit, nut, chocolate or even raisins in the batter!*

~2 tablespoons of water ~2 tablespoons of sugar
~2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup
1)Put strawberries, water and sugar in a pot and let boil for 5 minutes. Then strain the mixture into a cup. Use a spoon to press out the juice.
2)Poor spread into a mixer.
3)Put in a small serving bowl and refrigerate before serving.

Easy Swedish Rice Cream

~1 cup of cooked rice ~1 teaspoon of cinnamon
~1 cup of milk ~1 apple: peeled, cored and grated
~2 tablespoons of brown sugar ~1/2 cup of raisins
Combine all together and either heat for 1 minute in the microwave or eat/ serve while cold.

Maple Lemonade

Add 2 tablespoons of maple syrup to 1 cup of cold water. Add ice and squeeze the wedge of a lemon into the glass. Can be (recommended) served with a stick of cinnamon in the beverage and/ or a slice of lemon.
